Security fog & commercial security · Alsip, Illinois

Alsip wrote the fog rules. We install to them.

Alsip is one of the first villages in the state to put security fog in its own ordinance rather than leave it to interpretation. That is good news if you own a business here — the question is no longer whether you are allowed to fit one. It is whether yours is fitted the way the village asked for.

What we see in Alsip

What Alsip buildings actually get hit for

The ordinance came out of a run of overnight break-ins on gaming rooms and small retail along the village’s commercial strips. Businesses were already buying foggers; the village put a framework around them rather than fight it. The framework is short, and it is specific.

The village rules

What Alsip asks for, and what we do about it

  • ELECTRICAL PERMITThe Alsip Building Department wants a permit application before the unit is installed, not after.
  • WATER-BASED FLUID ONLYOil-based fog fluid is out. The reason given was respiratory safety, and it is not negotiable.
  • ORANGE STROBE, EACH SIDEA strobe on each side of the building, so arriving firefighters know what they are walking into before they open a door into a room full of fog.
  • SHUNT KEYThe village needs a way to shut the system down — during a power failure, or any time a crew has to be inside and the unit cannot be allowed to fire.
  • FIRE DEPARTMENT NOTIFIEDThe fire department is told the system exists, so a discharge is not answered as a working fire.

We file the permit, fit to the village’s requirements and notify the fire department before the unit is live. You should not have to know any of that to buy one — but you should know it was done, so we document it and hand you the record.

The requirements above are as reported in September 2026 and the ordinance had not yet appeared in the village’s published code at the time of writing. We confirm the current text with the Alsip building department before every install rather than working from a news article, and if anything below has changed we will tell you on the walk.

Why fog and not another camera

A camera is a witness. Fog is a participant.

Detection tells somebody it happened. Verification tells somebody it is real. Recording proves it afterwards to people who were not there. None of those three is in the room during the ninety seconds that decide what you lose. A fog barrier is — it fills the space in about two seconds and makes picking stock off a shelf physically impossible, whether or not anyone has answered the alarm yet.

Where it earns its cost

The Alsip buildings this is built for

Gaming rooms and VGT parlors

The buildings the ordinance was written around. Terminals sit feet behind the front glass, and the cash is in the machines.

Strip retail

Small units, roll-up or plate front, empty from nine at night. Fog turns the inside of the unit into somewhere you cannot shop.

Industrial and trade counters

Alsip has a lot of them. Tools, copper and inventory that moves fast in a van.

Currency exchanges and smoke shops

Small footprints, known cash, and the fastest in-and-out of anything on the block.

How we work

What happens when you call us out to Alsip

  • 01We walk the building before we quote anything. Openings, sightlines, where the stock actually sits and where a crew would realistically come in. Not a form, and not a price list sent by email.
  • 02We tell you which openings are not worth treating. Some glass has nothing behind it worth coming through for. Filming everything is a way to spend money without changing the outcome.
  • 03Fog goes where the value is. Coverage is calculated for the room, not the building. A unit sized for the wrong volume is a unit that does not fill in time.
  • 04We handle the permit and the fire department notification. Both, as a matter of course, before the unit is live.

We are about 15 minutes from you, based in Frankfort. We will look at the openings, tell you which ones matter, and put a number on it. If the honest answer is that you need less than you were quoted elsewhere, that is what you will get.
